It would appear that there are a number of individuals whom are somewhat confused, with regards to the current rules surrounding the Covid-19 epidemic. We continue to get questions, such as "..is the East Coast Run going ahead?"
The current law states: Outdoor gatherings are limited to 30 people!
Whilst there are commercially organised events taking place, such as football matches, etc., they are permitted by way of an attempt by the Government, to save commercial enterprises, and jobs, balanced against a number of health risks - and only with the permissions of the local authorities. The EYTCC is not a commercial enterprise (meaning paid jobs are not being lost if we don't operate) and therefore we have to adhere to the 30 people max rule - which would include members and visitors - making it currently impractical for us to organise our usual events. If we break this rule, we could be putting peoples health at risk, and subject to personal fines to each committee member of up to £10,000.
However, things may be looking more hopeful for the future, thanks to the vaccination rollout - and it's quite possible that we can be holding events of some description, from mid-summer onwards. Although, right now, there are no certainties, and things can change very quickly - especially with regards to new variants. As you will know, we have to rely on information and guidance from the Government.
Due to the current uncertainties, our venue hosts are also somewhat in the dark too - with regards to what events they will be able to host - when, and under what circumstances. Therefore, again we are unable to make any firm arrangements at this moment. However, we have been contacting our usual event venue hosts - whom are also keen to resume event hosting - once the law permits, and that it is safe to do so.
Once any events become available to be booked
- we will post a notice here, on this page.
For further updates, please see our News Page. We will also post updates for members, within our monthly magazine. For those without regular internet access, the latest information can also be found, via our events telephone number - with an automated message at: 08436 410 230. Calls are charged at local rates only - although this could cost more, if calling from a mobile.
